How to Clean Glass Sex Toys: Washing, Drying, Boiling and Storage

TL;DR

Wash your glass toy with warm water and mild soap before and after every use. Dry it fully before you put it away. A short boil is fine for a deep clean, but only if the piece is solid borosilicate glass with nothing attached. Keep oils, alcohol, bleach and abrasives away from it.

Why glass is simple to care for

Every piece we sell is borosilicate glass, made as a single solid piece. It is non-porous and smooth. Nothing hides in it, and nothing needs to be added to keep it clean.

That is why we do not sell a toy cleaner. We left it out on purpose. Soap and water is all the routine asks for.

If you are new to glass and still choosing a first piece, our beginner glass collection is a calm place to start.

The everyday wash

Wash before and after, every time. Even if the piece came straight out of a clean pouch, a quick wash first is a good habit.

1

Rinse the piece under warm water.

2

Wash it with a mild soap. Use the kind you would trust on a glass you drink from.

3

Work the soap over the whole surface, including any curves, ridges and the base.

4

Rinse again until it feels clean, not slippery. If it still feels slippery, there is soap left on it, so keep rinsing.

That is the whole routine. It does not take long, and it is the same whether you own one piece or several.

Any lube works with glass, so you do not need to plan your cleaning around which one you use. Wash the piece the same way afterward.

Drying it properly

Pat the piece dry with a clean, lint-free cloth. You can also let it air-dry somewhere clean.

Dry it fully before you store it. This step matters more than most people expect. If glass looks cloudy after time in a pouch, the cause is leftover moisture, not the glass itself. A dry piece in a clean pouch stays clear.

When and how to boil glass

Most of the time, soap and water is enough. A short boil is fine for a deep clean, but only when all three of these are true:

The piece is solid borosilicate glass.

It has no silicone sleeves, suction cups or rubber attachments.

Nothing on it is glued, capped or otherwise not glass.

If any one of these is not true, skip the boil and stick to soap and water.

To boil:

1

Fill a clean pot with water and bring it to a boil.

2

Lower the piece into the pot with tongs. Never set glass onto a dry, hot pan.

3

Keep the boil short.

4

Lift it out with tongs and let it cool fully before you touch it or store it.

Once it has cooled, dry it and put it away. Boiling is a deep clean for now and then, not a step for every use.

What to keep out of the cabinet

A simple rule: if you would not wash a wine glass with it, do not wash your toy with it.

Keep these away from your glass:

Oils. They leave a film on the surface.

Rubbing alcohol.

Bleach.

Abrasives, such as scouring powders or rough pads.

Anything from an unlabeled bottle.

None of these is needed. Mild soap and warm water already do the job.

Storing and checking your piece

Store each piece dry, in a clean pouch or its box. Keep it away from other hard objects so pieces do not knock together. If you own more than one, give each its own pouch or its own space in a drawer.

Look over the piece each time you wash it. Check the whole surface and the base in good light. If you find a chip or crack, stop using it.
